Dandruff and What to Do About It

What causes dandruff? That is a question that a lot of people ask sometimes for years. First its best to recognize the symptoms of dandruff. There are two obvious symptoms that accompany this annoying scalp issue. Scalp flakes and itching are both signs of dandruff. There are a number of things that can cause dandruff symptoms. Included among those causes can be bacteria infections, fungal infections, vitamin deficiencies, and more. One fungus that can cause dandruff is malassezia folliculitis. This is a yeast type of fungus that is often present on the scalp of individuals with dandruff. Not enough hair brushing and not enough shampooing can also cause dandruff. Even though some people think that shampooing can contribute to dandruff, that is not true. Seborrheic dermatitis and reactions to certain hair or skin care products can also cause this annoying scalp condition. Once you find the product that is causing a reaction on your scalp you should immediately stop using it. Finding the exact cause of dandruff can sometimes be difficult. Regardless of the cause the best hair and scalp care is always necessary to keep your scalp as healthy as possible.
